Welcome to the home page for the Armed Forces Skeet Association (AFSA). We conduct the annual Armed Services Skeet Championships at various locations throughout the United States. We are a 501-c(19) nonprofit organization dedicated to serving our active and retired military membership. The site was last updated on July 2, 2010 .

We owe our thanks to the Air Force Skeet Teams, Kolar employees, the Mainland family, and John Ramagli for the wonderful Kolar Gun donated by Kolar Arms. Kolar MAX, 30", AAA Tubes & Custom AFSA Case. John presented it at the banquet to Chris Robbins, USAF.

Other door prize sponsors coordinated by Doug Newcomb, Mike Brazzell, Ed Traylor, Andy Ulsher, John Ulsher, and Pat were:

Remington donated an 1100 Competition 12 Gauge for award to the HOA Champion and knives for door prizes. Briley donated a tube set for another great door prize. NSSA donated a Remington 1100 and an entry to the 2010 World for an active duty soldier. Decot donated three $100 gift certificates. The Virginia Ladies donated a new quilt for a silent auction. Gift certificates from Florida Skeet Association and Florida Police and Fire Games. Mil-spec donated 200 of their cleaning product samples. RGS barrel and tube cleaner. MEC donated a 9000GN.

2011 - The shoot will be in Richmond, VA at the Conservation Park of Virginia on 16-20 May. The Pletcher Open will be held 13-15 May. The Masters will be on 5-8 May. Why? - Easter is on 24 April so no go for that weekend or the following week. Masters on 5-8 May so no go for that week or the next which is our usual week. That left 18-22 April or 16-20 May. Mid-April in Virginia means wind and anything from 40-80 degrees. Mid-May means warm temperatures with a chance of thunderstorms. Not one of the many members I talked with at the Great Eastern wanted the April date. They all wanted the May date - so I made the decision to use 16-20 May and Scott concurred.
General Membership Meetings. These are information meetings for the Membership where you have the opportunity to ask questions of the Officers and Directors. Motions that require approval of something must be presented and voted on at the Director's Meetings. Per the By-Laws the Directors are responsible for managing AFSA. The General Membership only votes on two items: By-Law Amendments, and Election of Officers and Directors. We have been off track on this for a number of years so I know it sounds like we are changing how you interact with the Officers and Directors, but that is not the case. We are just abiding by Article IV, Section 1 of the By-Laws.

50TH ANNIVERSARY SHOOT

The 50th Shoot was at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, Texas on 10-14 May 2010. Awards included 13 Remington 1100s with 50th anniversary logo, 23 engraved knives, 61 leather pouches with belts and logo, nearly 200 belt buckles, nearly 200 watches, and over 100 ounces of silver coins.

The banquet door prizes included a $18,000 Kolar Gun Tube Set with special engraving and case donated by John Ramagli and Kolar Arms.

Director Committees will be proposed at the next Director's meeting: Finance, Registration (Computer help), New Members Follow-up, Door Prizes/Awards, Ceremonies, Nominating, and Site/Zones. Othere ideas are welcome. Contact Pat. Pat will flesh out the duties of each of the above and the directors will vote whether or not to accept the additional responsibilities involved.

SPECIAL INFORMATION

Kolar Arms offers special discounts to Military and Retired Military shooters. They offer a 15 % discount on tube sets and most other items. Special discount pricing is also available on Kolar Shotguns by calling John Ramagli at 1-262-554-0800.

Kolar and Briley have supported our shoot for as many years as I can remember. They are both great companies. Please support them when you get the opportunity.

Remington has provided our award shotguns for a number of years at special prices. They no longer make 1100 Tournament Skeet shotguns. AFSA has always paid for the guns with AFSA funds and donations from service teams and individual shooters. All D Class HOA shotguns have been paid for with shooter donations.

White Flyer Targets and Phil Murray have developed a special target cost program for AFSA that will allow clubs to purchase targets at lower cost and enable clubs and AFSA to pass that lower cost on to our shooters at the ASSC. White Flyer donated shoot off targets for the 50th Anniversary Shoot and provided special memento targets to us. Clubs can choose to have AFSA provide targets for our shoot in their bid.

THE HOST CLUB shoot is normally called the Pletcher Open. That shoot is open to all NSSA members. AFSA members who go on to shoot the ASSC are subject to re-average and re-classification after shooting Pletcher events.

GUN WINNERS must always have two forms of identification that shows the same name and address to gain possession of any shotguns won. This is an ATF requirement. P.O. Box adresses are not acceptable.
